  • MJK Sports Events Presents An Afternoon With Wally Lewis

    10 December 2017

    Ladies and Gentleman,

When people think of Rugby League greats, many names spring to mind and many arguments follow as to their worth. These names and arguments are still there and always will be. Yet there are very few who stand out as a name that draws universal acclaim.

Step forward Wally Lewis, the Emperor of Lang Park, is one of those players who draws universal acclaim. In fact, such is the esteem that he is held in by fellow professionals and Rugby League observers, there is only one name that he needs to be known by. Quite simply Wally Lewis is ‘The King’ and on December the 10th 2017 THE KING will attend the Victoria Hall Keighley for an exclusive event that  befits the man himself.

We will see big screen action from Wally’s amazing career and a special video tribute to the man himself. Some of Rugby Leagues past legends will also be in attendance and of course we have what we all want and that is the interview with THE KING followed by a lengthy audience Q and A.

Wally is quite simply “a great bloke” and on December the 10th we are all in for a Royal Rugby League treat.

Wally Lewis “I am looking forward to coming to the UK in December, it has been too long and I can not wait for the events. Tell the fans I am thrilled to be coming back”

WE EXPECT THE EVENT TO FINISH AT 18.15.

SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS EVENT THAT INCLUDE A PRIVATE MEET AND GREET PRIOR TO THE EVENT.

Please email info@mjksportsevents.co.uk for further information.

COMPANY INVOICES ARE AVAILABLE VIA info@mjksportsevents.co.uk

THIS EVENT IS PROUDLY IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE BRILLIANT CHARITY HEARTBEAT OF SPORT. PLEASE VIEW THE BRILLIANT WORK THEY DO VIA THEIR WEBSITE HERE http://heartbeatofsport.org/

The King is one of only a handful of players to be named a Rugby League Immortal and was one of the six inaugural members of the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame. In 2008 Lewis was named as Australia’s greatest ever five-eight or stand-off. Bearing in mind some of the players who have filled that position for Australia, that accolade is one of the greatest compliments that could be bestowed upon a man who is simply one of the best players EVER to play the game of Rugby League.

He achieved the greatest honour in Rugby League: the captaincy of his country, but it was his feats as Queensland skipper and playmaker in State of Origin that he achieved legendary status. He played 31 Origin games (30 as captain) and a record 8 Man-of-the-Match awards over a 12-year period.

In the 1983/84 season Lewis had a 10-game stint over in English Rugby League with the famous Wakefield Trinity – ten games where Trinity fans saw one of Rugby League’s true greats score six tries.

To see Wally ‘The King’ Lewis play was to see a player with magisterial grace take to the field, a player with the skill-set and nous that could turn a game with the drop of a shoulder, or a feinted dummy. Players in any sport who are in the very top echelons of that game make things look easy – very few made Rugby League look as easy as Wally Lewis did. Very few back then, very few since.
Simply put, Wally Lewis is, and will remain, ‘The King’.

    • “Lewis has to be number one because he’s the only bloke who dominated the game at the highest level, in State of Origin, over a long period. Ray RABBITS Warren, Legendary Australian sports commentator
    • “Certainly he’s the best I’ve ever seen in the rugby codes, and my memory goes back to Raper and Gasnier, Catchpole and Hawthorne”. Peter Meares, Australian sports commentator and writer.
    • “Lewis is the greatest player at representative level I’ve seen – and I’ve seen some great players, I was there when Gas and Chook were at the end of their careers”. Arthur Beetson, former Australian national team coach
    • “I’ve seen some great players, but I haven’t seen anyone step past or ahead of Wally Lewis. You’ve got the right bloke in at No. 1 alright”. Steve Mortimer, former New South Wales captain.
    • “For what it is worth, I rate him as the best footballer I ever laid eyes on”. Bill Harrigan, leading referee
    • “I’ve got to say here and now Wally is the greatest footballer I’ve seen, and all those great players knew that Wally was the greatest”. George Lovejoy, Queensland rugby league commentator
    • “THE KING is the best player I have ever seen”. Fellow Immortal Andrew Johns

  • MJK SPORTS EVENTS PRESENTS AN AUDIENCE WITH SIR RANULPH FIENNES

    9 February 2018

AN AUDIENCE WITH SIR RANULPH FIENNES.
    THE WORLDS GREATEST LIVING EXPLORER.

Victoria Hall, Keighley, Friday 9th February 2018, Doors Open 6pm.

    Ladies and Gentleman,

Listening to Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ incredible stories leaves you dumbfounded and in a state of disbelief.

From his self-deprecating tales of academic failure, through his time in the Forces, to discovering lost Middle Eastern cities and of course, his many and varied expeditions, it’s amazing how much one man has crammed into his life.

On February 9th 2018 MJK Sports Events once again have the privilege of hosting an event with Sir Ran as the special guest and to say we are thrilled is an understatement.

Following recent sell out shows on behalf of WaterAid at the Ramside Hall Hotel, in Durham, and the Grand Connaught Rooms, in London then a more intimate night at the Bingley arts centre the audiences were captivated by the stories and left open-mouthed at the challenges faced and conquered by Sir Ran, his first wife Ginny and countless colleagues like Dr Mike Stroud, who have faced every challenge with him.

Three things stand out firstly from the big screen video entrance the 50 minute description of his life and the audience question and answer sessions that follow. He is not one to boast, he does not suffer fools gladly and he has a very dry but funny sense of humour.  It is not for the faint hearted either, with a couple of pictures of hands and feet that had been subjected to extreme cold and the ravaged faces exposed to pure Ozone.

Among the many physical problems Sir Ran describes, including heart-attacks and diabetes, one is very evident. Frostbite cost the explorer the fingers on his left hand and such was the pain during his wait to have them operated on in the UK (you have to wait five months on medical grounds) his description of literally taking matters into his own hands with his wife Ginny was as a bleak and matter-of-fact as any story you’ll ever hear.

It is a privilege to be in such an incredible man’s company. He is undoubtedly a Great Briton and the World’s Greatest Living Explorer. Sir Ranulph Fiennes is super human and a super human too.

If you have not seen him live then this event is an absolute must.

When the night has finished Sir Ran will host a book signing where guests can purchase any of his books and have them personally signed and dedicated by the man himself.

  • A Select Audience With Andy Cole

    3 May 2018

A select audience with Andy Cole at the Victoria Hall Keighley, Thursday 3rd May 2017

    Ladies and gentlemen,

On May the 3rd 2018 MJK Sports Events are proud to bring you an Audience with Andy Cole.

A class goalscorer Andy played in the top division of English football for eight clubs but he made his name at the then sleeping giants Newcastle United under Kevin Keegan. Football fans will remember the 10th of January 1995 when Cole was suddenly sold in a shock deal to Manchester United and the then Alex Ferguson. Cole subsequently spent six years of his career with Fergie and United winning numerous trophies in the process. We know for sure we will hear about that story and how it came about on the night.

We will also hear about his devastating partnership in front of goal with Dwight Yorke and what it was like to play with players like Cantona, Scholes, Beckham and Giggs to name a few and also what it was like to pull on the England jersey.

On the night for your entertainment we have.

    VIP pictures with Andy Cole
